Pink announced that she would be giving away about 2,000 banned books about race and sexuality during her shows in Florida for her "Trustfall" tour.
"I'm a voracious reader, and I'm a mom of two kids who are also voracious readers," the "F**king Perfect" singer said during an Instagram Live.
"And I can't imagine my own parents telling me what my kids can and cannot read, let alone someone else's parents, let alone someone else that doesn't even have children that are deciding what my children can read."
Pink also revealed that she has partnered up with the literary and free expression group PEn America for the upcoming project.
"Books have held a special joy for me from the time I was a child, and that's why I am unwilling to stand by and watch while books are banned by schools," she added.
According to reports, the banned books include topics about race and sexuality, like "The Family Book" by Todd Parr, "The Hill We Climb" by Amanda Gorman, "Beloved" by Toni Morrison, and one of the "Girls Who Code" book series by a non-profit run with the same name.
Pink Shares Advocacy During Tour
This is not the first time Pink has expressed and shown her support for certain causes or advocacies; during her concerts, she waves the Pride Flag and other countries' flags.
"It's especially hateful to see authorities take aim at books about race and racism and against LGBTQ authors and those of color," the "Just Give Me a Reason" singer continued.
"We have made so many strides toward equality in this country and no one should want to see this progress reversed. This is why I am supporting PEN America in its work and why I agree with them: no more banned books."
As per PEN America, several books have been banned from schools in the past year alone, however, Florida's Department of Education denies the claims.
"Exposing the 'book ban' hoax is important because it reveals that some are attempting to use our schools for indoctrination," said Ron DeSantis, governor of the state.
"In Florida, pornographic and inappropriate materials that have been snuck into our classrooms and libraries to sexualize our students violate our state education standards."
Artists Show Support Towards Banned Books
According to reports, Pink is not the only artist who has spoken out about the issue of banned books.
Other artists and celebrities like Ariana Grande and Ava Max have protested against book bans.
