Jay Weinberg, the former drummer of Slipknot, shared shocking news with his followers as he revealed that he underwent surgery following his departure from the heavy metal band; what happened?
The musician took to social media to share what happened to him, saying he decided to undergo an "outpatient procedure to repair the torn labrum" of his left him.
In addition, he also had his misshapen femur part that was shaved down. Although he clarified that the condition never hindered him from drumming, he still wanted to take care of his health.
"I've wanted to take care of during downtime from my recording and touring schedule. Since 2020, my priority has been for my playing to go uninterrupted," he explained.
Fortunately, he had time to undergo surgery as there was a window in his schedule that would allow him to heal for over four months.

Elsewhere in the post, he noted that he decided to schedule the operation after his last show in 2023 wrapped up in order for him to be ready by April 2024 as he has a show by that time.
His plans to undergo surgery have been around for months, but he decided not to reveal it publicly.
Although he won't be able to play a real drumkit as he needs to recover, the musician will use a mix wave instrument to continue practicing and still use drums in a different way.
He added in his post some words of advice for his fans, saying people should always feel hopeful and have a positive mindset.
"Have your own back. Surround yourself with positive people. Focus on what gives your life meaning and purpose," he noted. (via Metal Insider)

The recent social media post comes more than a week after Jay Weinberg revealed that he was "brokenhearted and blindsided" after he received a phone call in early November that told him that he was not a part of Slipknot anymore. (via Rolling Stone)
Regardless, he told his fans that he was grateful for their support.
Slipknot shared the announcement on their official website, thanking the drummer for his "dedication and passion" to the band, but they decided to let him go after a decade of playing with the group.
