In her bid for primary custody of her two children, Teyana Taylor has leveled some serious allegations against her estranged husband, Iman Shumpert.
She has claimed that he neglects their daughters when they are in his care; the girls arrive back to their mother "disheveled" and "not fed properly," per court documents obtained by Radar Online.
Teyana Taylor's Claims
In 2016, Iman Shumpert and Teyana Taylor took the plunge and said "I do" to one another.
They have two children- Iman "Junie" Tayla Shumpert Jr., 7, and Rue Rose Shumpert, 3.
In a filing to the court, the "Gonna Love Me" singer sought both temporary and primary custody of the girls, citing her ex's allegedly problematic behavior.
Teyana further asserted that she had cared for the parties' minor children since their births and that it would be in their best interests to have her awarded temporary and permanent primary physical custody.
She harshly criticized Shumpert, who raised several accusations, such as Junie and Rue looking "unkempt" and not receiving appropriate nourishment.
The Divorce
In October, Teyana and her ex sent shockwaves around the world when they publicly revealed their separation - eight months after she quietly filed for divorce.
The "Bare Wit Me" singer also alleged that her former partner had acted with a "reckless disregard for the safety and well-being" of their children.
The mom-of-two further claimed that despite having supported him during his indiscretions, including cheating scandals and a DUI arrest, enough was eventually enough.
The latest development in the Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert saga has been the public announcement of their divorce.
Representatives for both parties have put out statements to clarify the situation.
Noting that Teyana's primary concern is protecting her children, her lawyer, Tanya Mitchell Graham, said: "Ms. Taylor has strived to settle this matter peacefully and confidentially for all concerned."
Iman's attorney Stephen Steele has asked that the proceedings be handled delicately for the well-being of Teyana and their two children involved in this divorce so as to ensure efficiency and a successful outcome.
"Mr. Shumpert hopes parties and counsel can work toward a fair resolution," he stated to the publication TMZ, "keeping the best interests of the children of paramount concern."
