Jelly Roll might be completely different from his persona in the past as he previously spent some time behind bars, but he recently revealed that he's still self-reflecting about life and is undergoing therapy for the betterment of his mental health.
According to Taste of Country, the musician is a bearer of light to those who are suffering from the same things that he had troubles with in the past. He uses his music to inspire others like his previous tracks "Save Me," "She," and "Son of a Sinner" which spoke about his issues with addiction, loneliness, and poverty.
The country rapper recently appeared in an interview with "The Daily Show" along with guest host Charlamagne tha God which asked him about how hi works on himself.
"Take the time to love myself. Learning to listen to myself. Working... I go to therapy. I take it very seriously," he said.
Jelly Roll Credits His Faith as Part of his Evolution
Elsewhere in the interview, the singer noted that he's an "old-school Southern man" who is still very connected to his faith with God and he noted that his relationship with him is part of his evolution.
"I'm just really rooted in my faith, my belief that -- more than anything, I search for purpose," he said.
Although there were people who see the faith in God and therapy as two contradicting concepts, Jelly Roll said he believes on both of them.
"I believe in God and therapy. I believe in the universe," he explained.
He later noted that he quit "searching to be happy" that's why he started searching to be useful and that was the time when everything changed for him.
Jelly Roll also feels like he's the voice for the voiceless and he's a great representative to those people who have never been properly spoken for.
Jelly Roll Success
Jelly Roll has been enjoying 2023 so far as he was able to wrap up his series of concerts, win a major award at the CMAs and he even got nominated to one of the biggest award giving bodies in the world of music.
Last month, the country musician became extremely emotional upon receiving the news that he had been nominated for a Grammy Award.
The reason why he broke down was because he considers it as the "greatest honor" that an artist could ever have.
The musician is up for two nominations for the 2024 ceremony under the Best New Artist and the Best Country Duo/Group Performance for the track "Save Me" with Lainey Wilson.
