Olivia Rodrigo recently expressed that as time goes by, she doesn't like some of her old "Sour" songs anymore.

Rodrigo was catapulted to mainstream success when she released "Sour," her debut album. The album was highly acclaimed, putting the former Disney actress at par with Taylor Swift's songwriting prowess.

But, as "Sour" talked about a particular point of Rodrigo's life, she seemed to outgrow them already as she moved on from the yearning and sullen stage - now moving forward with her unapologetic rock girl era of "Guts."

Olivia Rodrigo Has Outgrown 'Guts'

In a The Los Angeles Times interview, Olivia Rodrigo shared that she couldn't relate to some of her "Sour" songs anymore.

"Some of them I don't really love so much anymore," she told the publication. "I just feel like I've grown out of some of them."

When asked which among the 12 tracks she doesn't dig so much anymore, Rodrigo opted not to name them.

"Oh, I don't want to tell you that," she declared. "People get so sad because it'll be their favorite song."

Instead, Rodrigo revealed which song she still loves up to this day - "Driver's License." The song essentially skyrocketed Rodrigo to fame and mainstream success. The song earned her a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

"I remember putting the song out, still super-heartbroken, and people would come up to me and say, 'Wow, this takes me back to my first heartbreak,'" she recalled. "Now, I listen to it and I totally get it. It actually does transport me back to when I thought I was never gonna love anyone else. I'm like, Awww - that's so cute."

Dan Nigro The Reason For 'Guts,' Olivia Rodrigo Says

Elsewhere in the interview, Olivia Rodrigo reveals that it was his close friend and collaborator Dan Nigro who had pushed her to "branch out" and explore more of her untouched feelings as they wrote and create "Guts."

"I sometimes think if it weren't for him, I would have been writing sad piano ballads forever," Rodrigo confessed. "This time, I wasn't 17 years old, going through my first heartbreak, crying at the piano, and a song just flies out. I had to sharpen my songwriting skills and my singing skills. It felt like a different creative experience."

"Guts" is also highly acclaimed and as successful as "Sour." It has been nominated for Album of the Year and Pop Vocal Album of the Year at the 2024 Grammy Awards. "Vampire" is up for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance, while "Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl" is nominated for Best Rock Song.
