Madonna's fans did not celebrate at her Celebration Tour.
On Wednesday, December 13, Madonna marked the first stop of her Celebration Tour in New York City at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It became her latest show since launching her trek at the O2 Arena on October 14.
While fans have been waiting to see her onstage again, the attendees at her recent show wanted a full refund following a disappointing turn of events.
Madonna's Fans Furious After the Show Started Late
Several attendees shared photos and videos online to detail their experience at the recent show since it was supposed to start at 8:30 p.m. but only started at 11:00 p.m. The 2.5-hour delay was reportedly due to sound issues.
Fans took to X to express their dismay, with most of the fans asking for a refund.
One said, "Concert supposed to start at 8:30. Madonna started at 11pm. Whole arena chanting bulls--- at her lateness. Great show but went way too late."
"Lauryn Hill would get a lot of grief for showing up late. The Madonna concert at Barclay started at 8:30pm and it's 2 hours later with no opening act. This is ridiculous," another wrote.
A third wrote, "I don't give a f--- if you're Madonna. If you're 3 hours late, you're just f------ rude."
Meanwhile, some sources said it also took Madonna a long time before starting her set because the venue did not fill up until after an hour.
Madonna Surprised Fans After Being Late
For the first time in 15 years, Madonna sang her hit "I Love New York" track to mark the beginning of her shows in the city.
The Queen of Pop debuted a new version different from the song's original electro version.
"It's so great to be home... I mean that in a way that only New Yorkers know," she told the crowd. "New Yorkers can identify with just-not-giving-a-f--- mother------. We do shit our way. New York is not for little pussies who sleep."
She wrapped up the night with "Celebration" after performing some of her hits like "Into the Groove," "Ray of Light," "Like a Prayer" and "Hung Up."
Madonna will perform at the Washington Capital One Arena on December 18 and 19 before taking a break and returning on January 8 at the Boston Garden.
