Jon Pardi will welcome 2024 with a brand new perspective in life as he has been sober for a few months now. The singer did not hesitate to share his story as he's proud of his progress even though it has only been a few weeks.
The singer recently appeared in an interview with "Country Heat Weekly" podcast by Amazon where he noted that he stopped drinking alcohol since August 22, 2023.
After making the big decision, Pardi revealed that he already "lost a bunch of weight" and one of the main reasons why he decided to stop consuming alcohol was because of his health problems.
"I was pre-diabetic and I was just like, 'I gotta stop,'" he revealed.
He also mentioned that he became unhappy with himself whenever he saw a photo or video of him.
"... It just fell off my face and I really was getting to the point where every picture, every video, I was so unhappy with myself," he continued. (via Taste of Country)
Jon Pardi Will Not Give Up Alcohol Entirely
Although he had been sober for 130 days, he clarified later on that he would not give up alcohol entirely as he noted that even though he's "retired," it didn't necessarily mean he couldn't "come out of retirement."
Regardless, he feels great in the present.
"I just did a photo shoot and I was like ... 'Damn, I look good. Take that, Tito's!... But for anybody that's thinking about it, if you wanna lose weight and you do drink, let me tell ya, it does help tremendously if you stop," he added.
One thing is for sure, Pardi couldn't give up his sugar cravings, especially ice cream.
"'Well, I'm not drinking, let me get this candy bar, Twix ice cream. Coffee ice cream. So good," he said.
Jon Pardi's Plans For 2024
Elsewhere in the interview, as reported by Men's Journal, Pardi revealed that one of his biggest plans for 2024 is to release "new music" and "awesome songs" and he wanted his fans to get fresh music.
In addition, it will be a busy year ahead as he will be a part of Luke Bryan's event called "Crash my Paya" and the European leg of his "Mr. Saturday Night Tour" that was rescheduled from a few months ago.
