Aaron Carter's doctor broke his silence after he was named in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the singer's son, Prince.
Nearly a year after Carter's death, his former fiancée, Melanie Martin, filed a lawsuit on behalf of their son, Prince, alleging doctors and pharmacies of wrongful death. The filing claimed the doctors prescribed him hydrocodone, oxycodone and alprazolam with "no medical justification," and the substances led to his death.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner ruled that the singer died from accidental drowning in his bathtub after inhaling difluoroethane and taking alprazolam.
Aaron Carter's Doctor Responds To the Lawsuit
In the court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Carter's doctor, Dr. John Faber, asked the Los Angeles Superior Court to dismiss the lawsuit as he denied the allegations of wrongdoing.
The wrongful death lawsuit noted that Carter visited Faber on June 16, 2020, and received a prescription for the controlled substances, which reportedly led to his death.
"That all care, treatment, and procedures rendered to and performed upon the plaintiff's decedent were with the express and implied consent of the plaintiff's decedent," the physician said. "That plaintiff's complaint, and each purported cause of action contained therein, was the result and/or cause of a natural cause or condition, or was the natural or expected result of reasonable treatment rendered for the disease or condition."
Carter's ex-partner has yet to share a response on behalf of their child.
As noted, the case alleged that the doctors and pharmacies knew about Carter's "mental health and psychiatric condition" but still prescribed him medications inconsistently.
Aaron Carter's Sister Died
A year after Carter's death, the family lost another member when Bobbie Jean Carter was found unresponsive in the bathroom of her Florida home after going into cardiac arrest. She became the latest Carter family member to die after Aaron and Leslie Carter, 25, who died in January 2012.
The Florida Medical Examiner's Office informed RadarOnline.com of the completion of the autopsy and the delayed cause of death ruling due to pending toxicology results.
"Our office conducted the autopsy, and we are awaiting the family to make arrangements to have her released from our facility," the representative said, adding, "Autopsy reports may take four to five months or longer to complete."
