"It hasn't been two weeks."
"Did he mourn his brother at all?" Another remarked.
"Chile."
"Dude a b***h they put your brother down and you on stage rapping bs."
Yo Gotti's Brother Big Jook Shot Dead
One of the major reasons why netizens found it weird and appalling that Yo Gotti was already back rapping onstage is because Bbig Jook died after being shot outside a restaurant in Memphis on Jan. 13.
According to the New York Post, the "Cha Cha Cha" rapper's brother was gunned down outside the Perignons Restaurant & Event Center, along with a second victim.
Big Jook was transported to St. Francis Hospital but was eventually pronounced dead. The other victim was airlifted to Regional One Health in critical condition.
Police think that the attack was targeted, however, they are yet to find the perpetrators as of this writing.
"We do feel that the individual that was shot was possibly targeted by the suspect," the local authority said.
Yo Gotti Stays Silent About Brother's Death
Many noted Yo Gotti's silence regarding his brother's death, however, there were also many who spoke up about the gun violence in the country.
"I flew out of Houston at 3 a.m., got back to Miami," said Rick Ross. "I'm headed to an event titled 5,000 Role Models where we acknowledge the young leaders, the young kings, our young brothers.
"We gotta empower the brothers. And while I'm speaking on this, our brothers in Memphis: I need y'all to know there's only one way to wisdom and wealth, and that's through each other. You understand? Through each other. Put the ski masks down. Put the guns down. Let's embrace each other now. Let's show that love. Rest in peace to all our good brothers."
Aside from the criticisms, Yo Gotti also received several supportive messages online, and one even noted "Man is definitely hurting inside."
