Yo Gotti's brother, Big Jook, was shot and killed in Memphis, Tenn., multiple media outlets confirmed.

Big Jook, born Anthony Mims, passed away after a brutal shooting incident near Winchester Road on Saturday, January 13, afternoon.

Big Jook Shot and Killed

According to FOX13, Big Jook sustained gunshot wounds outside of Perignons Restaurant and Event Center after attending a funeral service. A viral video captured him when he walked up to the open casket of his late uncle, Eric Bovan, while comforting his loved ones who suffered the loss.

A few hours later, the shooting incident - which was reportedly a possible "targeted attack" - occurred. Another man was also shot and rushed to a nearby hospital in "critical" condition.

Memphis Deputy Police Chief Paul Wright said during a press conference, "Right now, we do have video that we are analyzing, but we don't have a clear suspect identified at this time. But we know that a weapon was used, a firearm was used in this incident."

More photos and videos started circulating online, reportedly showing Big Jook bleeding heavily while people tried to attend to him. He was later confirmed dead.

It remains unknown whether Yo Gotti was with him at the time of his death. The suspect behind the shooting has also yet to be identified.

The police department launched a probe to identify what happened before, during and after the shooting.

On the other hand, the public speculated his death might be related to Young Dolph's murder case in 2021, though it should be taken with a grain of salt. The late rapper, who was 36 years old at the time of his death, died in November 2021.

Young Dolph, Yo Gotti's late music rival, was gunned down 14 minutes away from where Big Jook was killed.

Social media users also alleged that Big Jook worked for Hernandez Govan, the man accused of planning Young Dolph's killing and helping the shooter escape from the crime.

"This is preliminary, so we haven't developed a connection to that at this time. We do feel like the individual that was shot was possibly targeted by the suspect," Wright continued.

Police initially assumed there was only one shooter, but there were probably more people involved, as seen on photos and videos online.
