One Direction got everyone excited for the Christmas season this week when the group announced that it would be taking part in its first ever holiday special. There are very few details as of yet but hopefully guest stars swing by and skits full of shenanigans will ensue. In the meantime, Music Times has a few other performers in mind that we'd like to see get a Christmas special. -

11/11 Was National Metal Day, So Music Times Lists Its Favorite Metal Albums of 2014: Triptykon, Eyehategod and More
Somehow, despite our rabid devotion to metal, your correspondent managed to miss "National Metal Day" on November 11. This may be perhaps because there's no justification for why 11/11 of all days is metal. It's hardly the coldest day of, well, winter hasn't even started yet. Was 06/06 taken? Either way, we've decided to list the best metal albums, in our esteem, that have come out during 2014. -
5 Bizarre Celebrity Impostors: Michael Jackson, Peter Criss, Psy and More

5 Great Songs in Memory of Wu-Tang Clan's Ol' Dirty Bastard: "Got Your Money," "Brooklyn Zoo" and More

5 Bands John Peel Was into Way Before You Were: Roxy Music, The Smiths, The White Stripes and More
Today marks the tenth anniversary of the death of John Peel, the most influential DJ in the history of British radio and possibly even the world (it's arguable). Most affiliate a good disc jockey with a listenable voice but the best are those who become tastemakers for their community/listening base. They didn't make the music but they make sure that you hear it. John Peel was influential in launching many a band to stardom, such as Pink Floyd, but the five listed below could not have gotten by without a push from Peel far before their names went up in lights. -

11 Great Albums With 11 Songs: Fleetwood Mac, Radiohead, And More
If you're obsessed with albums like I am, the number of songs in a tracklist has an inexplicable significance. While having 10, 12, or 15 tracks seems very neat and tidy, and having nine or less seems vaguely progressive, 11 tracks bursts with confidence, as if the artist had too many good songs for 10, but didn't want to pad it with 12. In honor of Nov. 11 (11/11!), here are the 11 best albums with 11 tracks. -

8 Albums Named After The Artist's Home State: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slipknot, And More
A few weeks ago, I wrote a list about albums named after the artist's hometown, such as Outkast's ATLiens or Bruce Springsteen's Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ. The eight artists listed here, however, took this one step further, by naming their albums after their entire home state. -
8 Classic Artists Whose Debut Albums Were False Starts: Bob Dylan, Neil Young, And More
There are some legendary artists, such as Led Zeppelin, R.E.M., or Pink Floyd, who burst into the mainstream with fully formed, excellent debut albums. Other legendary artists, however, stumbled a bit on their full-length debuts, and didn't truly find their voices until their sophomore releases. Here are eight classic artists whose debut albums were false starts. -
