    Grand Ole Opry legend Little Jimmy Dickens has died. The country singer was hospitalized for a stroke on Dec. 25, six days after turning 94. Dickens performed right up until the end of his life, gracing the Opry stage on Dec. 20 for a big birthday bash. As Rolling Stone Country points out, the singer was best known for comedic tunes like "May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose" and "Take an Old Cold Tater (and Wait)."

Here are five other musical events you may have missed in the last year as you were clawing your way toward the Bubba Gump's location for lunch.

    The good people at Red Frog Events, who put on the Firefly Festival every year, are getting a little country in 2015. The company announced the Big Barrel Country Music Festival today, Dec. 18, which will be held at Firefly's site, Dover International Speedway in Delaware. Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert will headline the event scheduled for June 26 to 28 — the weekend after Firefly. Tickets go on sale today, "Billboard" notes.For a three-day pass ($99), concert-goers will be able to see a mix of popular country artists and acts on the fringes of the genre, like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sturgill Simpson and Hurray for the Riff Raff. Legends like Loretta Lynn and Merle Haggard will also perform.Additional acts include:Jake Owen, Chris Young, Gary Allen, Eric Paslay, Jon Pardi, Dan + Shay, Cassadee Pope, Charlie Worsham, Jana Kramer, The Oak Ridge Boys, Joel Crouse, Chris Stapleton, The Del McCoury Band, Shakey Graves, Billy Joe Shaver, Nikki Lane, Jackie Lee, Logan Mize, Wade Bowen, Kaitlin Rose, Steven Lee Olsen, The Felice Brothers, The Stray Birds, Sam Lewis and The Deslondes.

    It is not an easy task to fill in for an iconic frontman like Bono on epics like "Where the Streets Have No Name" and "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" from U2's "The Joshua Tree," but leave it to Bruce Springsteen to make it look easy.The Boss joined the band onstage last night, Dec. 1, for the A (RED) Thank You concert. Bono could not make the World AIDS Day performance due to a recent bicycle accident, but Springsteen and Coldplay's Chris Martin were quick to help. Kanye West and Carrie Underwood also performed.Had Springsteen decided to where some shades, he would have looked just like the Irish frontman. The Boss strolled out on stage during The Edge's shimmering guitar intro to "Where the Streets Have No Name" and looked supremely confident. Springsteen brought a little of that hardened, New-Jersey grit to the Joshua Tree hit.The band opted for another classic from the 1987 album with "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," which Springsteen dedicated to Bono.     The 2014 edition of the "CMA Country Christmas" special aired last night, Dec. 1, and it featured some big names and classic tunes. Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson and Little Big Town were on hand to spread some holiday cheer. Aerosmith's Steven Tyler stopped by, and the whole event was hosted by Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles, who has been in control of the show for the last few years. Carrie Underwood, Hunter Hayes and Lucy Hale all contributed songs.A few of the highlights from the show came in the form of duets between artists of the country persuasion and guests from other genres. Tyler and Paisley teamed up for a revved-up version of "Run, Run Rudolph" that showcased the country star's guitar chops.     Kanye West, Carrie Underwood and a special configuration of U2 will all be playing the A (RED) Thank You concert tonight, Dec. 1, for World AIDS Day. Bono's organization planned the event in Times Square, but because of his recent bike accident, the iconic frontman will have to sit this one out. Bruce Springsteen and Coldplay's Chris Martin will take turns fronting the Irish rock outfit, which will be billed as "U2 Minus 1." The festivities, presented by Bank of America, start at 7:30 p.m. and we have a live stream of the concert below.(RED) was founded in 2006 by Bono and Bobby Shriver. The organization has raised more than $275 million since its inception for the fight against AIDS. According to (RED)'s website, the world is closer to raising its first AIDS-free generation with special treatments that prevent the disease from spreading from a mother to her child. Tonight's concert is to celebrate the work that has been done so far and promote the cause in order to eradicate the disease."This year is a World AIDS Day like no other," Bono said in a statement. "The world reached a tipping point in the fight against AIDS — more people were newly added to life-saving treatment than were newly infected with the virus."According to U2's website, Springsteen and Martin "graciously donated their time and talents to save the World AIDS Day event from cancellation."

    Following Bono's Nov. 16 bike accident in Central Park, adjustments have been made to the lineup for the World AIDS Day (RED) concert in Times Square tonight. Kanye West and Carrie Underwood will perform at the event while Chris Martin (Coldplay) and Bruce Springsteen will stand in for Bono with U2 members Adam Clayton, The Edge and Larry Mullen Jr., according to U2's website.
