An interesting 'Revelation(s)' has come forward about the creation of Audioslave, a supergroup formed in 2001 by members of Rage Against The Machine and fronted by Soundgarden's Chris Cornell: Layne Staley of Alice in Chains may have been the first choice for vocalist. A former roommate of the deceased musician claimed that the Ragers had reached out and Staley planned on cleaning up and making a run at it after severe years out of the music business. -

The untitled effort will follow the band's 2012 album, King Animal, which they released after a 16-year recording hiatus. Soundgarden's Chris Cornell and former Guns N' Roses member Duff McKagan will fill in for deceased members Layne Staley and John Baker Saunders. Surviving members Mike McCready (Pearl Jam) and Barrett Martin will lead the reunion, which will feature the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. -
Soundgarden To Remix And Reissue Debut Album 'Ultramega OK'
Grunge legends Soundgarden are having a pretty good 2014, reissuing their 1994 classic Superunknown and releasing the three-disc rarities compilation Echo of Miles: Scattered Tracks Across the Path, but they're far from done with the reissues. In an interview with Pulse of Radio (via Blabbermouth), guitarist Kim Thayil revealed that the band has plans to remix and reissue its debut album Ultramega OK, which was released in 1988 and recorded with legendary grunge producer Jack Endino, who also recorded Mudhoney and Nirvana. -
