• Boston Bombing Suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Makes Brief Court Appearance as Trial Begins in January

Thursday morning, Dec. 18, marked the first time in more than a year that Dzokhar Tsarnaev stood before a federal judge in a Boston courtroom. He was asked to appear in person so it could be put on the record that he is satisfied with his representation ahead of his trial, which is scheduled to begin Jan. 5. The last time Tsarnaev was seen in public was when he pled not guilty to at least 30 charges in a terrorism indictment that was in connection to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing that killed three people and injured 260.As it stands now, Tsarnaev's trial is set to begin in a few weeks and is expected to last between three and five months. While Massachusetts no longer has the death penalty on the table, Tsarnaev is facing federal charges, which do carry death as a possible punishment. Insiders seem to believe that even if the 21-year-old is sentenced to death, it is unlikely he will ever be executed.
  • The Feds Raided 'RHONJ' Teresa Giudice's Home This Week, Taking Everything from Cash to Her Kids's Christmas Gifts

It looks like once again Teresa Giudice decided that following the rules did not apply to her, and boy, is she regretting it now. It was actually quite simple: The star of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" was required to submit a payment plan to the court, mapping out how she and Joe Giudice intended to pay back the $214,000 they owed in restitution. But instead of doing that, Teresa ignored the situation and avoided making contact with the court, and the end result was a huge slap in the face by law enforcement, as the Giudice family home was reportedly raided earlier this week.According to Radar Online, since Teresa was not volunteering to set up a payment plan, then the feds barged in and took valuables, electronics and some hidden cash."Teresa was home and was absolutely stunned by the raid. She had no clue they were coming. She was absolutely hysterical and begging them not to take the girls's Christmas presents. A large amount of cash was found in the wine cellar. This all could have been avoided if Teresa had simply submitted a proposed plan to pay off the restitution. Yet Teresa chose to once again thumb her nose at the law, and was ignoring it," said a source.
  • Tracy Morgan's Career in Doubt While He Attempts to Recover from a Severe Brain Injury

Five months after actor-comedian Tracy Morgan's limo bus was struck by a speeding Wal-Mart truck on the way back from a gig at a Delaware casino, we are learning more details about the devastating accident. Morgan is thought to be fortunate to have survived the accident that killed fellow comedian James McNair because he suffered a subdural hematoma, which kept him comatose with bleeding around his brain.Morgan and three others have filed a lawsuit against Wal-Mart, and attorneys for both sides met behind closed doors yesterday. Morgan's attorney, Benedict Morelli, gave the press an update on Morgan's condition and a realistic view of his prognosis."He's fighting to get better, and if there's a chance for him to be back to the Tracy Morgan he once was, he's going to try to do that. He's still fighting and trying to live his life at the same time and trying to get better, and he's just not better. We're hoping and praying to get him back to where he was. But the jury's out. He had a very, very bad brain injury. Let's assume for a moment that he can go back and do everything that he was able to do before. When is that going to be? A year from now? Two? Three? I don't know. Six months? I doubt it," said Morelli.
  • 'Love & Hip Hop's' Moniece Slaughter Accused of Bilking NBA Star Joe Smith Out of More Than $100K

"Love & Hip Hop Hollywood" would be really boring if everyone kept their noses clean, right? I am sure VH1 runs like a well-oiled machine on that belief, so every time one of its stars catches a negative headline, the execs must see extra dollar signs. This time around, it is Moniece Slaughter who is making waves. Sure, she has been known to have some violent tendencies on camera, but now an ex is accusing Slaughter of bilking him out of $109,000.According to a report by TMZ, former NBA star Joe Smith has filed a police report alleging that Slaughter wrote nine checks between October 2011 and March 2012 to a man named Timothy Clayton Carr. Smith claims not to know Carr and says he never wrote the checks either. Carr claims he cashed the checks for Slaughter because she said she did not have a bank account to do so herself. At least, that is what he told police in June 2012. Carr also claims not to have known that there was any issue at all until the final check he cashed for Slaughter ended up being canceled.

  • Jury Selection Begins In Retrial Of Potential Death Penalty For Jodi Arias

Jodi Arias returns to court this week as jury selection is beginning for the penalty phase retrial of her murder conviction. Arias was found guilty in the 2008 slaying of her former boyfriend, Travis Alexander in Phoenix, Arizona. She insisted that stabbing Alexander 30 times, slitting his throat and then shooting him in the head was all done in self defense. During the original murder trial Arias changed her story several times and evidence left behind on a digital camera seemed to paint a totally different picture of the violent attack then what she had told law enforcement.
