North American summer festival season has slowly eased into being with SXSW, Ultra Music Festival and Coachella over the past month, but with Memorial Day just three weeks away and June on the other side, the large outdoor music spectacles will begin in earnest very soon. In a month and a half, ravers from all over the United States, particularly the West Coast, will converge on Las Vegas to attend the flagship festival of Pasquale Rotella's Insomniac Events, Electric Daisy Carnival. In anticipation, they have shared a seven-minute trailer featuring footage from last year and performers dancing in a park. The new anthem for this year's festival, "Crash 2.0" from DallasK and Adventure Club featuring Chloe Angelides on vocals. -

Two of the biggest players in United States electronic music are getting set for a major clash over the name Electric Daisy Carnival, which is the driver behind the Insomniac Events company. Bands make most of their money by touring is the common wisdom in the music industry. Interestingly, concert promoters are making an increasingly large chunk of their revenue through sponsorship deals. The most recent of which is a deal between Live Nation and Smirnoff for EDM-based festivals, which will make the brand the "official vodka sponsor" of 26 events. -

Entering its third year, the festival will be bringing back its cast of superstar international DJ talent to the famed Milton Keynes Bowl for a one-day celebration of electronic music. The festival will feature your standard DJ headliners in Hardwell, Tiësto and Steve Aoki, while the addition of Pendulum adds a nostalgic feel to the festival even if it is just a DJ set. -
Electric Daisy Carnival Mexico Announces 2015 Lineup Headlined by Jack Ü, Tiësto, Sasha, David Guetta and More
Insomniac's Electric Daisy Carnival is one of the biggest dance music festival franchises in the world. The flagship festival EDC Las Vegas started in Los Angeles and has since moved to Las Vegas, but Insomniac began to grow the brand in the past five years to the East Coast, creating outposts in New York and Orlando and then spreading internationally. One of these international destinations has taken root in Mexico City, and Insomniac has announced the lineup for the second-annual edition of the festival. Habitual headliners like Tiësto, David Guetta, Laidback Luke, Dillon Francis and Sasha will all join the party, with a large cast of DJs to round out the lineup, including Diplo and Skrillex's side project Jack Ü, which Diplo announced the appearance of last month in an interview with DJ Whoo Kid.The lineup includes a variety of DJs from a wide swath of genres. Some of the acts heading to Mexico in the spring include Tommy Trash, Grum, Dubfire, Arty, GTA, Oliver Heldens, Orjan Nilsen, Claude VonStroke, Andrew Rayel and more, via "Mixmag." The festival will take place over two days, Feb. 28 to March 1. As it is in Las Vegas, EDC Mexico will be situated on a racetrack, this time closer to the city than in Las Vegas at the Autodrome Hermanos Rodriguez. -

Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella has announced in a Facebook post the dates for the Electric Daisy Carnival's 2015 Las Vegas event, which will return to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway June 19 to 21. According to "Your EDM," the 2015 festival will also bring back its weeklong EDMbiz Conference & Expo, which will run from June 16 to 23."Let's celebrate under the electric sky and watch the sun rise together!" The dance music community has come under fire over the past few years in the United States for a spate of drug related deaths and arrests. Insomniac Events, one the largest electronic dance music event promotors in North America has decided to go on the public relations offensive. 24-Year-Old Man Dies At Electric Daisy Carnival
According to the Las Vegas Sun, a 24-year old man died after the first night of the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas on Saturday morning, identified as Montgomery Tsang of San Leandro, California. Tsang collapsed in the parking lot of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:12 a.m. The cause of Tsang's death is not yet determined. A statement related to the incident was issued by Insomniac, who puts on the festival.
