Fox Affiliate Anchor Kristi Capel Suspended for Using Racial Slur to Describe Lady Gaga's Performances
The fallout continues for Cleveland's 'Fox 8 in the Morning' anchor Kristi Capel, who on Monday, Feb. 23, made the potentially career-ending mistake of using a racial slur on air. While doing an Oscar recap with co-anchor Wayne Dawson for the Fox affiliate, Capel praised Lady Gaga's performance by saying she usually cannot hear her voice because of the "jigaboo music" she uses. In case Capel did not offend people the first time, she then used the word a second time to really drive home her point, and boy, did viewers get it. In spite of issuing an apology, the reaction has been so bad Capel has been suspended from the air. -

Fox News Anchor Kristi Capel Uses Racial Slur to Describe Lady Gaga Performance
Kristi Capel of 'Fox 8 News in the Morning' in Cleveland learned the value of her words yesterday, Feb. 23, the hard way. She was discussing the Oscars with co-anchor Wayne Dawson when the topic turned to Lady Gaga's 'Sound of Music' medley. Capel was in the middle of praising Gaga and explaining how she never realized how amazing the star's voice really is because it is usually hard to hear it "with all of that jigaboo music she does or whatever you want to call it, jigaboo," said Capel, while laughing. Dawson, who just happens to be African-American, clearly had no idea how to even react to her on-air insensitivity. -
