Apparently, the LP grew out of the legendary producer's fascination with World War I and the sinking of the so-called "unsinkable" Titanic. It plays like a pastiche, conjures a collage of different stories told with the help of sea-like ambient instrumentations that conclude with a pretty straightforward cover of The Velvet Underground's "I'm Set Free," penned by Lou Reed. -

When one thinks of A Tribe Called Quest, their 1990 debut album anthem "Can I Kick It?" swiftly comes to mind. Although the track's release trailed the unveiling of the silly yet sensual 'People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm' tracks "Bonita Applebum" and "I Left My Wallet in El Segundo," the rap group never saw any money form the song's success. Instead, The Velvet Underground's Lou Reed cashed in from the song's success since the bass line comes straight from the unmistakable 'Transformer' classic hit, "Walk on the Wild Side." -

Ornette Coleman, one of the most influential figures in jazz history, has died at the age of 85 from cardiac arrest, according to The New York Times. The saxophonist would make jazz history at the end of the '50s and during the early '60s with his audio experiments, which would form the foundation of what many now call "free jazz."
