But there is some good news too. Change is coming to Los Angeles EDM event brand Insomniac Events. As laid out in a lengthy letter to fans by founder and owner Pasquale Rotella, the company is looking to continue in the direction of expanding overseas, but has to pull back in other areas, canceling EDC Puerto Rico and Beyond Wonderland in the Bay Area. -

Insomniac Events' Pasquale Rotella Urges LA County Not To Ban EDM Events
Insomniac Events Founder Pasquale Rotella has urged L.A. County authorities to not ban EDM events and festivals in the area. In an Instagram post, he outlined his reasons saying that it would be a mistake to send a cultural revolution back "into the unregulated underground" that the government banished it to back in the 1990s and early 2000s where the risks were much higher than they are today. -

There is a phrase -- PLUR (Peace Love Unity Respect) -- which is used by some to describe the ethos of the dance music culture, notably, the rave culture. When things are heading to court, PLUR goes right out the window. Two of the biggest players in United States electronic music are getting set for a major clash over the name Electric Daisy Carnival, which is the driver behind the Insomniac Events company. Gary Richards, head of Hard Events is suing Insomniac Events, headed up by Pasquale Rotella. -

In a recent interview with Vice's dance platform, Thump, Insomniac Event's founder and CEO, Pasquale Rotella revealed details about an upcoming book he is planning on releasing in 2015. The book is slated for release next May and also has a movie deal with Fox.
