The Chemical Brothers have unveiled a second track from their upcoming artist album Born In The Echoes. After sharing the lead off single from the LP, "Sometimes I Feel So Deserted," Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands have unveiled one of the hotly anticipated collaborations "Go" with Q-Tip. The "Hey Boy Hey Girl" duo team up with noted, inventive, screenwriter and director Michel Gondry to direct the eccentric music video that features seven women walking around a deserted town rowing and performing synchronized dances with long metallic poles. After five long years, The Chemical Brothers are back with a new single and more importantly, a new album. The duo of Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands have been instrumental in pioneering big beat electronic music and bringing it to pop, notably in the UK with five number one albums. Following up their 2010 LP, Further, the pair breaks up the longest spell of their career without releasing a studio album with Born In Echoes. The LP will feature the likes of St. Vincent, Beck and Q-Tip. To go with the album announcement, they have released the lead single from the LP titled "Sometimes I Feel So Deserted." -
Derrick Carter, Legendary House DJ, Speaks On Cultural Smudging In Dance Music
Over the past week, the hip hop community has been embroiled in controversy and debate over "cultural misappropriation" or cultural smudging," notably directed at Iggy Azalea the new white chick on the block. Everyone from Azealia Banks (of course), to T.I., to Lupe Fiasco to Q-Tip have weighed in on the topic, 140 characters at a time on Twitter. Derrick Carter, one of the original house DJs from Chicago, is looking to start that dialogue in dance music. As reported by The Fader, Carter shared his thoughts on his personal Facebook about how dance music has become noticeably whiter since its days origins as a gay and black genre.
