John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats has teamed up with Rolling Stone editor Christopher R. Weingarten for #tcot, a collaborative noise cassette release. Produced by Ben Greenberg of The Men, the already sold-out tape comes out just in time for Cassette Store Day (10/17) via Northern Spy. -
The Mountain Goats Touring in Fall, 'Will Not Be Playing Rush'
The Mountain Goats are hitting the road in support of its wrestling-themed album Beat The Champ but unfortunately, no—unlike the Insane Clown Posse, the folk-rockers won't be bringing actual grapplers on tour with them (at least as far as we know). If an odd, telegram-style message from frontman John Darnielle is any indication, the run will be called the "Trees Southeastern" tour, although it will hardly be limited to the Southeast. -

Indie folk band The Mountain Goats have announced a new album titled "Beat the Champ" — that is the cover artwork above — which is set for release April 3 in Australia/New Zealand, April 7 in North America and April 13 in Europe through Merge Records.
