Flying Lotus Shares Doom Collaboration 'Masquatch' From 'Grand Theft Auto V' [LISTEN]
Just yesterday, experimental hip-hop producer Flying Lotus shared a new track from the upcoming re-release of Grand Theft Auto V called "Medication Meditation," featuring Krayzie Bone. Today, FlyLo is back with "Masquatch," another weird yet incredible song from the soundtrack, featuring underground hip-hop visionary DOOM (a.k.a. MF DOOM, a.k.a. Viktor Vaughn, a.k.a. King Geedorah). The track's extremely brief running time (it comes it under two minutes) is reminiscent of DOOM's classic Madlib collaboration Madvillain, and its abstract, hookless production wouldn't sound out of place on their Madvillainy LP. -
Concert Review: Cat Circus in Bloomfield, NJ, 5/2/14
Like a great number of "venues" in New Jersey, the Cat Circus is just the basement of a house rented out by college students, but it's definitely the cleanest, most organized college house I've ever set foot in. The original bill for this show/birthday party/vegan BBQ consisted of eight acts, which is three or four more than is usually recommended for a house show, but two of the acts ended up not playing, which I'm sure the neighbors were quite thankful for. -

Ryan Book's Playlist of 2013: Lorde, Kanye, and Kvelertak
Music Times, like so many other music publications, was looking to publish a "Best of 2013" playlist. We met to discuss what such a playlist should include, and that's where we ran into trouble. We couldn't agree. Sometimes two of us just couldn't agree on whether the performer was amazing or terrible, and even when we agreed they were amazing, we couldn't agree on what track was most representative of their work. Hence it was decided that rather than try to agree (a seemingly impossible endeavor), everyone would get their own "favorites of 2013" playlist. We won't argue that these are neccesarily the best tracks of the last year, but they're definitely songs that caught our respective attention and caused us to hit 'repeat" over and over and over again -
'Grand Theft Auto 5' Features 240 Licensed Songs, Including Originals From Flying Lotus and Tyler, The Creator
The most anticipated video game of the year is "Grand Theft Auto V." Hands down. The game has a higher budget than the film "Prometheus," a map of epic proportions, and more relevant to us at Music Times, a soundtrack featuring at least 240 licensed songs featured on the games famous radio stations. Ivan Pavlovich, the soundtrack supervisor for Rockstar Games, gave some previews to Rolling Stone recently.
