Tim McGraw and his family experienced a tragic loss recently as he announced on social media that his uncle Henry Thomas McGraw, also known as Hank, has passed away.
Taking to his official Instagram account, the country singer revealed that the beloved patriarch has died, saying he was "an incredible man."
"He had a way of lighting up any room he walked into without trying. He was a no-bs, straight shooter. Honest and truthful, even if it hurt," he wrote.
The musician reflected on his uncle's life, saying he was an All-American high school athlete who played professional baseball for 11 years. In addition, he was fond of music, and he played guitar.
"More than that, he was a good friend to all who knew him, and he loved with an open heart... Aw man, and he told the best stories!" he added.
Tim noted that his uncle, the older brother of his father, Tug McGraw, 's presence and legendary status will continue to live on in their family until the next generation, as they want to keep his memories alive.
"He loved, he was so very loved and he will be terribly missed.. So much more to say about him.... But I will stop for now," he concluded.
According to Hello! magazine, Hank signed with the New York Mets in 1961 and convinced a scout to sign Tim's brother, too; otherwise, he would quit the team.
He later left the sporting world after Tug, who played for the Mets and Philadelphia Phillies throughout his career, found fame as an athlete.
Hank devoted his life to singing and playing guitar but lived a much quieter life than his brother and nephew.
Details about Hank's cause of death and memorial have yet to be announced publicly.
On the other hand, Tug McGraw passed away in 2004 due to brain cancer.
In other updates about the musician, Tim McGraw is set to perform at a few shows later this year, including stops at the Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque on August 24, the Jazz Aspen Snowmass in Snowmass on September 1, and the Y-Live at Wean Park in Youngstown on September 27.
More details about his concerts are available on his official website.
