Just last week Phaedra Parks confirmed that she is going through with her plans of divorcing Apollo Nida after five years of marriage. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star sat for an interview with Ellen DeGeneres that will air today and in it she finally addresses everything that has transpired. Nida was arrested for identity theft and fraud at the beginning of this year and eventually he was sentenced to eight years in prison, a term he began serving several weeks ago. DeGeneres jumped right to the tough questions and asked Parks if she had any idea that her husband was involved in illegal activities.
Parks admits that Nida was an ex-con when they married but says that she fully believed that he was a changed man when she agreed to build a life with him. As to the rumors that she somehow was involved with Nida's underhanded business dealings, Parks insisted she had no idea, telling DeGeneres,
"I really didn't. I mean, I work. I just got my fifth college degree. And so I'm pretty much an overachiever. I have two very small children. I just stopped breast-feeding three months ago. So, I didn't have any idea this was going on until he called me and he said, 'Hey, I've been arrested and I'm having this problem, but it's not true.' So I went out of my way to get him the best attorneys, the best investigators, and to do anything I could, because I'm an attorney myself and so I wanted him to have the best. So we could fight this together, but obviously it did not turn out like that."
After separating herself from Nida's shadiness she then admitted that she is going ahead with the divorce and that for now she needs to focus on raising her two small sons. Nida has claimed that Parks has had an affair in recent months with a man simply referred to as "Chocolate." When asked by DeGeneres about this situation she naturally denied having any kind of affair.
Some fans think that Parks isn't exactly the southern belle that she loves to claim herself to be. Take a look at this clip and tell us, do you believe Parks' side of the story?
