Earlier this month, YG announced his upcoming short film and accompanying soundtrack Blame It On The Streets. The West Coast rapper recently discussed his forthcoming project, performing with Fergie and releasing an album in 2015.
Prior to the L.A. screening of his short film at Hollywood's famed TCL Chinese Theatre, the folks at Rap-Up caught up with YG and discussed his work in 2014.
"I feel good. [When] we came into the whole making of My Krazy Life, one of the goals was to come out the studio with a classic album and to come out with a short film for the album," he explained. "We couldn't get the movie done in enough time to come out with the album 'cause there was a lot of shit going on. But we figured out a way to still put an album out the same year with the label's support and that was do a short film with the soundtrack."
YG recently shared the stage with Fergie for a live performance of "L.A.LOVE (la la)" at the American Music Awards.
"That s--t was crazy. Shout out to Fergie for f--kin' with me on that record, for real," said YG. "She really f--k with people. She's showin' us love."
The "Who Do You Love?" rapper released his debut album My Krazy Life back in March to much critical acclaim.
"It was a bad year for the rap game," he said. "For me, it was easy 'cause it really wasn't no albums that dropped like that. It was like five rap albums. You got [ScHoolboy] Q, Rick Ross, Jeezy, Future..."
"Shit, I don't know. Maybe 2016," he said when asked if fans can expect another album next year.
Blame It On the Streets will be available in stores and online on December 15.
