Kate Hudson Reportedly Had Nothing in Common with Matt Bellamy, Better Off with Derek Hough

Last week Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy confirmed their split after a three-year engagement and while their fans may have been caught by surprise, it seems that those close to the couple weren't. There had been rumblings about the status of their relationship for at least a year, with rumors that a split was a bit inevitable and now we are learning some of the reasons why.

According to a source that spoke with Us Weekly, Hudson and Bellamy were destined to fall apart because they had very little in common. She started spending time with Derek Hough late last year in order to infuse some fun back into her life, and she soon realized that they actually had a lot more in common than she had ever had with Bellamy.

"Derek and Kate are better matched than Matt and Kate... They both like to dance, have fun and mess around. And that's what the relationship is right now. Kate really likes Derek. Kate hooked up with Matt because he was a rock star in a hot band... But he was moody. She would call him a wet blanket. Things were bad. They were always on the verge of breaking up or getting back together... Other than liking music, they didn't have anything in common.... Kate loves being outdoors and being fit. Matt was always inside recording or jamming with friends," said the source.

While Hudson's connection to Hough may have made it a bit easier for her to move on, her friends insist that they didn't cross any lines until she had officially split from Bellamy. Hough had no interest in breaking up a family and he apparently kept Hudson in the friendzone until he was sure that her engagement was over.

"DWTS" fans adore Hough and have clamored for him to find a decent woman to settle down with. Do you think that they'll be accepting of his romance with Hudson? Will this end up being more than just a fun fling for these two? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
