The Killers 'Just Another Girl' premieres, new song 2013 from 'Direct Hits' blends together band's past influences [REVIEW]

It's been almost 10 years since The Killers took the rock music scene by storm with their debut album Hot Fuss. Now, the Las Vegas band are prepping for their first best-of album, Direct Hits. In addition to their monster hits like "Mr. Brightside" and "Human," the compilation album is also set to feature two new tracks: "Shot at the Night" and "Just Another Girl." The latter received its debut on VH1 today (Nov. 4).

"All of my friends say, 'You should move on' / She's just another girl / Don't let her stick it to you hard / All of my friends say, 'It wasn't meant to be' / It's a great, big world / And she's just another girl," lead singer Brandon Flowers blasts in the bombastic chorus. Though the track deals with the fallout from a major break up and a broken heart, the instrumentation is distinctly optimistic.

Fitting for a best-of album, "Just Another Girl" manages to blend together all of The Killers' past sounds. Upbeat electronic beats pull from Hot Fuss, country twangs nd Americana-esque pride boom through like Sam's Town and epic power comes through the track a la Day & Age and the band's latest effort Battle Born.

Overall, "Just Another Girl" contains a strength and passion not heard in more recent Killers releases, showing that a best-of album really can bring out the best in an aging band.
