It seems that only Mel B — Melanie Brown — herself knows the real situation going on behind the scenes with her husband Stephen Belafonte, and she is bound and determined to keep it that way — at least for now. The former Spice Girl, known as Scary Spice, was taken to a London hospital Dec. 11 and then missed a taping of The X Factor two days later — a major no-no. All sorts of rumors and innuendo spread, but finally Mel B spoke up on social media, insisting all is well.
It had been alleged that Belafonte is abusive, a claim that has even been made by Mel B's mother, and that when she returned to work on The X Factor she had several noticeable bruises on her. On Instagram Sunday, Dec. 28, she posted a photo of herself with her husband that was captioned, "This is for my fans havin problems with my Twitter will be back soon! I'm very good was very polly but much better now and for the record my hubby never would lay a hand on me sorry took so long but any response fuels rumors #lovemyfamily #lovemyfans."
There were also rumors that Mel B's hospitalization was because of an accidental overdose and afterward she reportedly was afraid to leave London because she was dreading having to return to the States to deal with things with Belafonte.
What do you think is really going on here? Is the reality star simply trying to cover up the mess that really is going on behind the scenes, or has everything been greatly exaggerated, leaving Mel B to have to do some serious damage control?
