Modest Mouse Premiere Video For New Song "Coyotes," Ahead Of 'Strangers To Ourselves' Release [WATCH]

As previously reported, Modest Mouse have announced a new album Strangers To Ourselves. Following the release of "Lampshades On Fire," the group has now shared their latest single, "Coyotes." The band originally debuted the song back may at the Beacham Theater in Orlando and has performed it a few more times since. Along with the track's officially release, they shared it's video.

The video for "Coyotes" features an adorable coyote riding a train through Portland.

According to fan site Interstate-8, the song was inspired by the true story of a coyote who wondered onto a Red Line Max train at PDX airport in Portland, Oregon in 2002. He was caught by a security crewmember before being able to make his trek, however.

"Coyotes tiptoe in the snow after dark / At home with the ghosts in the national parks / Mankind's behavin' like some serial killers / Giant ol' monsters afraid of the sharks," Isaac K. Brock sings of the human impact on the environment.

Modest Mouse aren't the only band who've used this precious story as inspiration for a song. Sleater-Kinney, whose Olympia, Washington origins aren't too far away, also borrowed from the story for their song "Light Rail Coyote."

The band's first album in eight years, Strangers To Ourselves is due out March 3 via Epic Records. Modest Mouse revealed the album artwork last month alongside a pre-sale of the album. Packages range from $14 for the album to $500 for a "LP + Vintage Poster Package," which includes rare posters from Brock's archives. A package with a T-shirt and one with a hoodie are also available.

Strangers To Ourselves will follow-up 2007's We Were Dead Before This Ship Even Sank. The album will also mark the first new Modest Mouse music in six years. The band last released the No One's First and You're Next EP in August 2009.
