We apologize in advance for very intentionally misleading you with this headline. Unfortunately, rapper Gucci Mane will not be releasing a compilation of Christmas classics. He will, however, be releasing his next project on Christmas day, as a gift to ll the fans of the Ice Cream Man.
The State Vs Radric Davis II: The Caged Bird Sings will serve as a sequel to The State Vs Radric Davis, which was Gucci's first major label release, in 2009. The snarky among you are already cracking jokes about how the title of the new album correlates with the rapper's current life situation, but it may be less coincidental than you think. The first chapter was released while he was incarcerated, hence its intentional title. It would be quite the conspiracy theory to suggest that Gucci planned on being in prison during the release of part two, but he could have decided to bump the release date up in light of recent developments.
The most recent legal troubles faced by the rapper include two separate charges of possessing a firearm while under felon status, and another for threatening police officers during an altercation. The rapper could be facing up to 20 years behind bars for the infractions. The rest of 2013 hasn't been to kind to Gucci either. He's currently suing his former pal, Waka Flocka Flame, for fraud, racketeering and breach of contract, and during a bizarre Twitter rant in September, the rapper lashed out at rappers including Nicki Minaj with outbursts both curious and offensive.
