Gucci Mane might be coming home sooner than previously thought. In a recent interview with Atlanta radio station Hot 107.9, Atlanta rapper Peewee Longway made the bold statement that Guwop would be freed from prison in "a couple months."
Longway was not the most talkative guest on the show, feeling his face half the time, but when asked about when Gucci was coming home, he was quick to respond.
"We gonna break your stage in a couple months," Longway stated. "I broke the news, man. Guwop, a couple months." Check out the full interview below via Hip Hop DX. Skip ahead to around the 3:30 mark for his response to Gucci's release, unless you want to hear him talk about his recent projects.
This statement flies in the face of a recent tweet from Gucci's imprint 1017 Records that gave the prolific rapper's mailing address and also revealed a tentative release date of March 6, 2017.
Gucci Mane, real name Rodric Davis, is currently behind bars for possession of firearm by a convicted felon. He was arrested last year and in his plea deal, he was originally sentenced to jail until late 2016.
This news from Peewee Longway could just be him blowing smoke and talk from a man who heard a rumor and is hopeful to see the Atlanta rap staple back on the streets.
However, if in fact, this is real, Gucci must have been a model citizen during his time in prison. We got a glimpse at his captivity when he showed off his newfound ability to box in a short video at the beginning of the year.
