Rihanna teased her new single "B*tch Better Have My Money" yesterday, March 25, on Twitter. Today, the singer shared a link to the tune, but there's a catch - to hear the new song, fans must first sign up for Dubsmash, Billboard notes. The app allows users to send selfie videos "dubbed with famous sounds."
RiRi may be one of the first artists to use Dubsmash to release a new song, but social media apps have played an important part in sharing new music nowadays. Musicians have been using Snapchat to release tunes and videos (Madonna did for her "Living for Love" video back in February). Dubsmash users usually lip-sync audio, so Rihanna most likely appears in the video singing her new track.
The pop star hasn't shared too many details about her eighth studio album. We do know that it will feature the Kanye West/Paul McCartney collaboration "FourFiveSeconds" along with "American Oxygen" (she also shared a song for the upcoming movie Home titled "Towards the Sun"). The title of the effort is suspected to be R8, but that's even unconfirmed.
"I've made a lot of songs that are just really, really big songs. From the jump, they just blow up," she told MTV earlier this month. "And I wanted to kind of get back to - not that they weren't real music, but I just wanted to focus on things that felt real, that felt soulful, that felt forever.
"I wanted songs that I could perform in 15 years; I wanted an album that I could perform in 15 years," RiRi added. "Not any songs that were burnt out. I find that when I get on stage now, I don't want to perform a lot of my songs because they don't feel like me. So I want to make songs that are timeless."
