American dance music icon Kaskade, real name Ryan Raddon, is taking his talents away from the main stage to the more intimate setting at the Do Lab stage. Various artists sharing set times for this weekend revealing a 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Redux slot on Saturday evening, which sparked rumors of a Kaskade set on the stage. The hosts later confirmed the news themselves. The "Never Sleep Alone" DJ also confirmed news on his Twitter.
The smaller, more intimate setting will be in sharp contrast to the set Kaskade will perform on the main stage Sunday night. It is Raddon's fourth time performing at Coachella, but first on the main stage, playing to tens of thousands.
The redux set will be a first in a festival setting and quite different from the original intention of the concept, which was for "floors packed a few hundred deep, with house heads all bouncing to a groove with me."
He described the concept before his show in New York the night before New Year's Eve.
"The idea was to strip things back down and nod to the way it was. Closed eyes meant you were doing it right. The only sensory assault was sound, with restraint everywhere else. Music would be the experience."
Kaskade recently released the debut single "Never Sleep Alone" from his upcoming, still untitled album. He premiered a new collaboration alongside Galantis, the Swedish duo who he has remixed several times and received a Grammy nomination for his work on "Smile."
