'LHH' Mendeecees Harris Headed to Prison After Pleading Guilty to Drug Trafficking

Fans of Love & Hip Hop NY have been wondering for the last year whatever became of that drug trafficking case that left Mendeecees Harris locked up for more than a year until Yandy Smith was finally able to bail out her man last spring. Harris was originally charged with running a drug ring between NYC and Rochester from 2005-'12 with his brother, Tyrus Harris and good friend, Ronald Walker. Both have plead guilty to the charges and as of now, Walker is serving 10 years in federal prison. While Harris has maintained his innocence since being released on bail, he recently struck a deal with prosecutors that was hinged on him entering a guilty plea.

According to a report by TMZ, "Harris struck a plea deal in the case, and will now face 5 to 40 years in the federal pen, and/or a fine of $5 million. The feds nailed him for a drug trafficking operation that shipped cocaine and heroin to Rochester for 7 years. Harris will remain free on bail until his sentencing in August -- good thing for him ... since he and Yandy are getting married next month on Love & Hip Hop Live: The Wedding. By the way, he also has to surrender all his paychecks from LHH," says the source.

While Harris is scheduled to be formally sentenced in August, Smith seems to be 100 percent focused on their upcoming wedding. Her social media is filled with declarations of love to her man and insistence that they'll be together forever. Fans of L&HH already watched Smith struggle to care for two kids when Harris was locked up for a year. This recent turn of events means that she will be a single mother to three children for at least five years. Do you think that she will really remain loyal for that long without a bit of resentment?

Are you surprised that Harris decided to take a deal? The case really did seem to be a slam dunk against him, didn't it? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
