On the heels of the release of his single "Twist My Fingaz," YG recently opened up about the June studio shooting, new music and life on tour on Sway's Universe.
Kicking off their 18-minute chat, the Compton rapper offered up a look at his tour bus and explained the motive behind bringing 20 of his friends on the road with him.
"I feel like when I go on tour, I can take some of the homies...keep them off of the streets," YG told Sway. "It's like alright, at least I know I'm doing something for them...I'm saving them on the low because a lot of sh*t goes down on the streets."
The "Bicken Back Being Bool" rapper happens to be all too familiar with things going on in the streets. In June, he was shot three times while in a Los Angeles recording studio.
"I got shot... I was on the balcony. Dude was poppin' up. So it [the bullet] went up, it went in, it went out and went back in right around here." he said while showing one of his bullet wounds.
YG revealed to Sway that the recent incident almost got him kicked off of J. Cole's ongoing "Forest Hills Drive" tour. Luckily, the South Carolina rapper stepped up to his defense but YG was left to pay for insurance with a hefty price tag attached.
"When I got shot they thought that having me on this tour wasn't the right move," he explained. "I had to get like $5 million dollars worth of insurance to be on the tour and I know J. Cole was a part of me staying on the tour. He told me, 'I had to fight to keep you on this joint,' so I have a lot of respect for J. Cole."
