Bad news Frank Ocean fans. The channel ORANGE singer has canceled his performance at FYF Fest "on his own terms" according to a statement from the festival at the very last minute and will be replaced by a worthy headliner in Kanye West. The SWISH rapper will headline this Saturday night Aug. 22, while Morrissey will cap off the festival the following night on Aug. 23.
The cancelation comes after speculation that Frank Ocean was going to release his upcoming album Boys Don't Cry in July. The month came and went without an album, though his brother did manage to Rick Roll an entire fanbase at the end of the month. There has been no revised timeline for the album release, but fans shouldn't hold their breath with the cancelation of his appearance at FYF.
This could have just been another prank by the Ocean family to get his fan's hopes up, only to bring them down. However, the payoff has to be great with Boys Don't Cry.
Kanye West joins a well curated and balanced lineup on Saturday that includes Bloc Party, Jon Hopkins, Kaytranada, Chet Faker, Purity Ring, Run The Jewels, Goldroom, Shlohmo and Dinosaur Jr. Sunday will bring out a little more star power with the likes of Flume, Belle & Sebastian, fka Twigs, Solange Spiritualized, D'Angelo & The Vanguard, Mac DeMarco, Death Grips, Dixon, Toro Y Moi and others.
FYF Fest will take place this weekend at the LA Sports Arena & Exposition Park. Single day tickets for both Saturday and Sunday are sold out, but two day passes are still on sale for $175. You can purchase them here.
