Gucci Mane may be locked up, but that hasn't stopped him from releasing plenty of material. In fact, he recently issued a letter to fans in which he announced a new project called The Machine. Gucci has put out tracks as recently as October 18, including "Big Money" and "Ball With You." While serving a stint for gun charges, the Atlanta-raised rapper was visited in jail by his former director on Spring Breakers, Harmony Korine this week.
As XXL reports, Gucci posted a picture of himself with his former director on Instagram, providing fans with a sense of how he is holding up behind bars. Gucci's music was said to be an inspiration on the film Spring Breakers, and continues to excite fans around the world. However, fans were disappointed to learn that his the feature film, The Spot, missed its intended release date and has been pushed back to November. Speaking of the film, Gucci wrote on Instagram, "I got to push the movie release back to next month I thank my fans for their patience and support I am eager to get this project to you and will use the next few weeks to make sure that I deliver it in a way that you all will enjoy."
Korine cast Gucci in his film as a ganger-archetype whose dominance over St. Petersburg, Florida was not to be questioned. The Gummo director spoke of why he chose Gucci Mane with Pitchfork, asserting, "Because he's the best trap-rapper ever, without question. To me, he's the epitome of trap gone weird. There are guys who are more macho and gruff, and I find that pretty boring. Gucci's rhymes are weird; his metaphors are so strange-- his whole thing is next level. What makes Gucci Mane Gucci Mane is like what made Frank Sinatra Frank Sinatra-- it's just him. He's trap's Frank Sinatra."
