Justin Bieber is looking to get some more street cred these days with his new studio sessions. Today (April 11), Bieber revealed that despite "being on a break," he's still very much working in the studio... this time, he's teaming up with Weezy himself, Lil Wayne.
Bieber boasted about his studio time on Instagram by posting two ominous studio photos with himself and Lil Wayne. "Me and Tunechi" and "Me and Wayne" he captioned the two images, which show off the musicians' backs amongst recording equipment.
It's nothing revolutionary or groundbreaking, but it does continue the evolution of Justin Bieber from tween pop sensation to a hip-hop infused adult performer.
Bieber has notably worked with rappers in recent months. As Idolator points out, he's logged recording time with T.I., Diddy, Rick Ross, Wale and T-Pain in recent months.
This also isn't the first time that Lil Wayne and Bieber have collaborated on new music. The two previously released the alien-themed song "Backpack," which appeared on the full version of Bieber's Journals compilation album, which was released last December.
It's unknown what project the newest Bieber/Lil Wayne collaboration could be for. Weezy is expected to release Tha Carter V this year, but Bieber is also anticipating a fourth quarter new record. So, the project could really be for anything.
