The Black Keys, St. Vincent to round out 'Saturday Night Live' season 39 as musical guests

Saturday Night Live is continuing its season 39 love affair with rock 'n' roll. Today (April 23), it was announced that The Black Keys and St. Vincent will be the musical guests for the final episodes of the 2013-2014 season.

According to SNL's Facebook page, The Black Keys and St. Vincent will play the May 10 and 17 shows, respectively. Charlize Theron will host May 10; SNL alum and Brooklyn 99 actor Andy Samberg will return to NBC for the season finale.

Those acts will follow Coldplay, who has been previously announced as the musical guest for the Andrew Garfield-hosted May 3 episode.

The timing is key for all three rock acts. The Black Keys and Coldplay will both be dropping their new LPs (Turn Blue, Ghost Stories) in May. Meanwhile, St. Vincent will be promoting her newest self-titled album, which was released in February.

These three bands will round out SNL's 39th season, which has been very friendly to bands of the rock persuasion. Beck, Arcade Fire, The National, Imagine Dragons, Bastille, Kings Of Leon and Haim have all given their musical offerings to the sketch comedy show this year.

Of course, SNL has also been friendly to some major pop players. Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Drake all pulled double duties (hosting and performing) this season.

The final episodes of SNL's season 39 will air the first three Saturdays in May, as always, at 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
