Mayday Parade's lead singer Derek Sanders laid down a beautiful cover of Weezer's "Butterfly" for his YouTube followers.
Sanders' vocals, so loved by Mayday fans on tracks like “Miserable at Best,” “Stay” and “Terrible Things,” help take "Butterfly" take flight.
“Butterfly” is the final track on Weezer’s second studio album, 1996's Pinkerton -- diehard fans hold it up as the band's best. Weezer released their ninth studio album, Everything Will Be Alright In The End, in 2014.
Mayday Parade released their fifth studio album, Black Lines , late last year, which they had announced in November of 2014. "Right now, I have 11 or 12 song ideas that I feel really excited about, which is a lot further along this early in the process than usual," Sanders had said.
The new album takes a lot of cues from the alt-rock scene to which Weezer belongs. Songs like “Hollow” are as far from pop-punk the band could get, a clear representation of their range.
The Tallahassee rockers released their debut album, A Lesson In Romantics , in 2007, and have been surging in popularity since, despite co-vocalist Jason Lancaster’s early departure. Mayday Parade will soon head out on a joint headlining tour with The Maine dubbed The American Lines Tour, tickets for which are on sale.
