Eleven years ago, Jon Pardi was a normal 18-year-old, living the life in California. One night while hanging out with friends, he got into a fight with another young man. It turned ugly when the other guy pulled a knife, stabbing Pardi in the stomach three times and slashing his arms.
He talked with Pittsburg's Jimmy and Monty at Y108 radio about how that was just the beginning of the journey. Medical help was farther away than a simple 911 call. He explained, "Cause we were out in the country, it was up in the hills, and it was at somebody’s house and my buddy’s now a paramedic firefighter, ’cause his whole family are firefighters… we just got in his car, we just drove to the hospital, the first hospital didn’t have emergency services. And the second, we had to go to another one it was like ten minutes away. We got in there, and they didn’t know diddley, and then they put me in an ambulance and took me to Sacramento."
Obviously, Pardi survived, though he will carry a 7-inch scar for the rest of his life. His attacker was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and spent a whopping four months in jail. Though he hasn't had any contact with him since, he said that he still wonders what the guy thinks when he hears Pardi's music on the radio.
