Website Tells Users Exactly When Frank Ocean’s New Album Will Be Released

A fan who got tired of waiting for Frank Ocean's Boys Don't Cry to be released created a website that informs users exactly when the singer's upcoming album comes out. According to computer science and engineering student Shahzeb Khan, his website is designed to scan major online music outlets for the album's release.

For a couple of weeks now, Ocean fans have been patiently waiting for the debut of Boys Don't Cry. But, since many of them rely on online news websites for their updates, they have to constantly refresh their feeds and browsers to check on the album's status.

According to Khan, who is a student at UC Davis, this experience is what prompted him to create his (650)82OCEAN online service.

"I'm home for the summer and like everyone else I'm a huge Frank Ocean fan and I've been anticipating the album and checking up on blogs and websites constantly and there's been radio silence," he told Billboard. "I just got tired of refreshing my browser all day."

Through the website, users will receive a text or email message once Boys Don't Cry comes out. As noted by Khan in the site's description, his online service automatically checks Spotify and iTunes regarding the availability of the album. It also scans Twitter for updates.

Once the website detects that the album is already out, it will send a message to the registered users, who have the option to opt out of the service by simply replying "stop."

As for Ocean's album, it was originally expected to be released on Aug. 5. But, when the album didn't arrive on that date, its rumored released was pushed back to Aug. 12. However, it still didn't come out, according to NME.

The singer has not yet issued a comment regarding the actual status of his album. But, Ocean was recently spotted with his mom Katonya Breaux, who posted a video featuring him on her Instagram account. Interestingly, the video was posted on Aug. 12.
