Slipknot to Perform Full ‘Iowa’ LP for the First Time at Ozzfest Meets Knotfest

For the first time in 15 years since Slipknot released their second studio album Iowa, the Des Moines band will play all of the LP's songs live. According to the band, this will happen at the upcoming Ozzfest Meets Knotfest event in California.

Through an official statement posted on Slipknot's Facebook account, the band celebrated the 15th anniversary of Iowa by announcing a special performance at the upcoming festival, which will take place on Sept. 24 and 25 at the San Manuel Amphitheater and Festival Grounds in San Bernardino, California.

The album, which was released on Aug. 28, 2001, contains a total of 14 tracks including the band's hits "Left Behind," "The Heretic Anthem" and "My Plague." Since its release, the band has not yet played all of the songs on the album. The members of Slipknot aim to change this by going through the entire album during the second day of Ozzfest Meets Knotfest.

"15 years ago, something quite extraordinary happened. Nine men from 'IOWA' went in to a studio in California and created one of the most chaotic and destructive albums ever made," the band said in a statement. "It was, and still is, a shockingly physical and ferocious recording."

"On Sept. 25, 2016, at Knotfest in San Bernardino, 30,000 people will experience an event that has never been done before," Slipknot continued. "It will be a dense and serious spectacle, both visually and sonically."

Aside from the special performance, another highlight of the event is its entire theme. Based on its name, the Ozzfest Meets Knotfest combines the annual festivals hosted by Ozzy Osbourne and Slipknot.

Details of the event were confirmed in May and aside from Osbourne and Corey Taylor's respective bands, other metal and hardcore groups such as Megadeath, Opeth, Black Label Society, Hatebreed, Slayer, Anthrax, Amon Amarth and Children of Bodom will play at the event.
