Jeezy has released his new album Trap or Die 3. The Atlanta rapper has been pushing the new album pretty hard over the past few weeks and now sees the fruits of his reward with its release. It arrives with features by Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, French Montana and others.
It also has a feature from the late Bankroll Fresh on the previously released "All There."
Trap or Die 3 is the third in the Trap or Die trilogy, which began with the classic Trap or Die in 2005. The sequel followed five years later and then another six fans now get the third installment.
Jeezy isn't looking to rewrite the playbook with this album. He is putting out more trap music for the streets.
At the time when he announced the album, he made his intentions clear with this LP.
"You already know how I came into this game: harder than a motherf*cker, and that's how I'm going out," proclaimed the rapper.
The album is a heaving 16-track, hour-long mix of Jeezy's deep voice, bragadocious lines about women, money and working the streets, all over fast-moving trap beats. It is a celebration of what Jeezy's has been known for over his career and the type of music Atlanta has brought to streets around the world.
Some rhymes can feel a bit lazy like on "Recipe," "Connected in these streets just like wifi." Which is disappointing for a song that otherwise has a good hook and better beat by Mike Will Made It.
That does not mean he doesn't connect throughout the album, showing off his wealthy lifestyle choices on the strong "Let Em Know."
"Let me tell you bout the story from Huaraches to Versaces / My partner pulled up, I had to chef it up, hibachi."
