Camila Cabello recently shut down rumors that Taylor Swift was the one that encouraged her to leave Fifth Harmony. The singer pursued a solo career last in December 2016.
During a recent interview, the "Havana" singer also said that she got annoyed after she learned that Swift was being linked to her exit from the all-girl group.
"It annoyed me that people said [Taylor] was encouraging me because I know that she probably got a lot of negative criticism for that. Absolutely nobody could ever persuade me to do anything. If I don't want to do something the whole world could be telling me and I won't do it. And if I do then the whole world could be telling me not to do it and I'll do it. I've always been that way," said Cabello.
The "Never Be the Same" singer also said that she and Swift do not normally talk about any game changing moves. They also do not plot anything against Fifth Harmony. Most of the time, both artists just talk about love and boys.
Camila Cabello Announces Exit From Fifth Harmony
Two years ago, Cabello released a statement regarding her decision to leave Fifth Harmony. She said that she wanted to learn new things from being in the music industry, and she wanted to explore other opportunities. When she expressed her desire to release collaborations outside of the group, the members of Fifth Harmony did not support her endeavor.
Dinah Jane, Normani Kordei, Lauren Jauregui, and Ally Brooke announced that Cabello has decided to leave the group. They said that they were informed by the singer's representatives and not by their former group mate herself.
Fifth Harmony Accused Of Dissing Camila Cabello
Months later, Fifth Harmony performed at the MTV Video Music Awards 2017, and they seemingly threw a shade at Cabello. Prior to their performance, the group yanked a fifth member off the stage, and fans were convinced that was meant to be Cabello.
Even though the members of the group explained that it was not their intention to shade Cabello, the 21-year-old singer still said that the move hurt her feelings.
"I wasn't expecting it. I wasn't prepared for it - especially because at that point I'd moved on from it. It was just like, 'What? Why?' I have to make space for the good stuff to happen in my life. I don't like holding onto the past, especially when it's stuff that, in my opinion, is just petty," said Cabello.
