Australian pop-punk boy band 5 Seconds Of Summer has given its fans enough to swoon about this week with the release of its debut, self-titled album, but that doesn't mean they stopped trying. Yesterday (July 22), 5SOS stopped by Sirius XM to promote its new LP and performed a gender swapped, acoustic cover of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream."
Starting off with a C-chord (as he so informatively declared), guitarist/singer Luke Hemmings kicks off the "Teenage Dream" cover with a few key lyrical changes. "I think you're pretty without any makeup on / I think you're funny when you tell the funchline down / I know you love me so I let my walls hang down," he sang.
Yes, funchline.
Bassist Calum Hood also takes some main vocal duties, picking up the first verse halfway through before all four boys kick in on the chorus.
With a few word changes aside (Hood also replaced "Cali" with "Sirius" to fit the band's current surroundings), the cover is shockingly straightforward and not-so-shockingly well done.
5SOS made a lot of girl's teenage dreams come true, if only for a few minutes.

Of course, "Teenage Dream" isn't the first cover 5SOS has thrown together in recent months. Last month, the band covered the Green Day single "American Idiot" for Kerrang!'s tribute to the classic album American Idiot. The band also got famous through performing takes on songs from The Jonas Brothers, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber and more.
