Pop-punk boy band 5 Seconds Of Summer will have way more than just 15 seconds of fame this summer. The group's debut album, which dropped on Tuesday, July 22, is aiming to debut atop the Billboard 200 album chart.
According to Billboard, the "She Looks So Perfect" band's first full-length LP is due to hit No. 1 on the U.S. Albums Chart next week. The record is set to move an impressive 250,000 units.
A 250k debut would be a huge marker of success for 5SOS, and would make 5 Seconds of Summer the third best-selling debut of the year so far.
Coldplay's Ghost Stories sold 383,000 units in its first week, followed by Eric Church's The Outsiders with 288,000 albums.
The No. 1 spot would be a first for 5 Seconds of Summer; previously, the top of the charts always eluded the boy band.
Upon its release in the UK earlier this month, 5 Seconds of Summer was bested by Ed Sheeran's latest effort x. As for the American charts, the band's 2014 EP She Looks So Perfect debuted at No. 2 in April with 143,000 units sold in its first seven days.
The great success of 5SOS is a testament to the band's rabid, young female fanbase. On Tuesday (July 22), 5SOS performed "Amnesia" and "She Looks So Perfect" on TODAY in Rockefeller Plaza, to the biggest audience of the year.
