Bad news for Roddy Ricch fans! The rapper won't be performing for "Saturday Night Live" due to an unexpected thing, but the show recently announced his replacement: what happened to him?
Taking to his Instagram stories, the "Boom Boom Room" hitmaker shared a brief explanation as to why he won't be performing in the iconic New York City-based stage.
"Due to recent COVID exposure on my team and to keep everyone safe, I won't be able to perform on SNL this weekend."
Ricch assured his fans that he will be performing on "SNL" soon as he's currently working with the production team to "lock in a new date."
The rapper concluded his statement by telling fans to stay safe.
Who Will Replace Roddy Ricch This Weekend?
According to Deadline, the rapper was scheduled to be a musical guest this weekend. Ariana DeBrose will host the show.
Since he won't be able to perform due to an unexpected turn of events, the show recently announced his replacement, none other than Bleachers.
The band features Jack Antonoff, the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter whose famous collaborators include Taylor Swift, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, and many more.
This is the first time "Bleachers" would perform on the show.
They are expected to perform hit songs from their latest 2021 album titled "Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night," like "How Dare You Want More," "Stop Making This Hurt," and classics such as "Don't Take The Money" and the likes.
Not the First Time 'Saturday Night Live' Experienced a COVID-Related Cancellation
Last November, Ed Sheeran announced that he would be performing on the iconic "SNL" stage. However, just a day later, he revealed that he had tested for COVID-19.
"Hey guys. Quick note to tell you that I've sadly tested positive for Covid, so I'm now self-isolating and following government guidelines," the singer wrote.
The British musician was able to redeem himself as he finally performed on stage after his quarantine period.
"Excited to hit the ground running with work again, and SNL is still on, so tune in Saturday, see you there," he wrote at the time.
Sheeran performed numerous tracks from his latest record titled "=" like "Shivers" and "Overpass Graffiti."
Charli XCX's supposed musical performance last December was also canceled a few hours before its airing due to the "limited crew" because of the Omicron variant spread.
