Slipknot is set to release a new album soon and in order to keep their fans hyped, the band surprisingly dropped a new single titled "The Dying Song (Time to Sing)" and Corey Taylor recently explained the meaning behind their song.
Speaking in an interview with Kerrang!, The frontman revealed the song revolves around the "outrage and none of the punishment" for him.
Over the past few years, Taylor said it's been "very trendy" to be offended and outraged by even the slightest things, but there's no resolution happening at the end of the day, especially in his country (United States).
"It's almost like the tables have turned, and the more angry people get, the more the people who they're mad at just double-down on the s***," he added. (via WGRD 97.9)
He added that instead of people being punished for doing wrong things, it came to a point that the public has now reacted like "f*** you, we don't care" and it appears that they're waiting for doomsday to happen.
"You're sitting there going, 'Well, it's been fun! Everybody, pick up your trash when you're leaving, and 'I'll see you in Hell!' That's kind of what that song is. It's just like, 'If we don't figure it out, I'll see you when the meteor hits, basically,'" he added.
Elsewhere in the interview, the singer said he lost all hope for humanity after the things that he witnessed throughout his life.
In order to change society, a catastrophic event should happen.
