If you're a die-hard "Stranger Things" fan, you probably know that most of the show's cast members are heavily involved in the music scene. Joe Keery, who plays the role of Steve Harrington, is not an exception as he's been releasing music for years under the name Djo.

In an interview with NME, the actor revealed that he wanted fans to disassociate his music persona from his character on the famed Netflix series.

He debuted in the music industry in 2019 and he started releasing songs for fans to stop comparing himself to his role.

"The stage persona started as a way to disassociate the music from the character that everybody knew me as on Stranger Things," he said.

The alter-ego made him more famous and he ended up loving the "camaraderie" that Djo creates.

For his live shows, the actor said he wanted to surprise people and "have a really fun show that's infectious."

Regarding fans that only like him as an actor and not a music act, Keery said it's "cool" for him as long as they enjoy his performances.

Joe Keery AKA Djo New Album Coming Next Month

The recent interview comes more than a month after the singer announced the official release date for his second album titled "DECIDE."

The new record will be available for purchase and streaming starting September 16.

To keep his fans hyped for his upcoming music, his team came up with a marketing strategy that lets supporters hear a teaser of his previously-released song "Change."

In early June, lucky fans were able to dial (928)-9-DECIDE on their phones to hear 8-bit audio.

Keery has been making music since he was a teenager, but he only launched his solo career in 2019 as he was previously part of the band Post Animal.

His new album was created throughout the COVID-10 pandemic with musician Adam Thein. All tracks were recorded in Los Angeles, California.

Explaining the meaning behind his record, Keery said the album will feature "reflections of growth, relationships and navigating it all in a world filled with technology at its center."

Aside from the actor, several "Stranger Things" cast members are also involved in music like Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), who's a part of the bands Calpurnia and The Aubreys.

Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley) released an explicit music video for her song "Thérèse" last month and is expected to drop her sophomore album "Moss" on September 23.
