During their concert in Denver, Five Finger Death Punch's frontman, Ivan Moody, dropped a bombshell on fans-he is "retiring from heavy metal."
According to reports, Moody promised fans one last album with the heavy metal band before bowing out to spend more time with his family.
"I wanted to tell you this - and nobody else in the world knows, Denver, so this is where it's going to start. And what you do with it is up to you," he began.
"[...] And through that time, as many of you parents know, I have missed a lot of time with my kiddos. So I made them a deal today, and I'm going to stick to it," he continued.
"After this year, I am going to make one more Five Finger Death Punch album, and then I am retiring from heavy metal."
He also noted how he has performed in several countries around the world numerous times, "the last 15 years of my life I have toured the world, I have seen every country, every city on this planet at least twice. That's a fact."
Fans React
His announcement was met with a mix of reactions from fans and other audiences.
"Sad to hear the news about Ivan Moody stepping away from heavy metal... One more album," a fan wrote.
"I thought I would never hear these [words] from Ivan Moody [announcing] retirement from Five Finger Death Punch. I grew up listening to his music and his song save my [life] multiple [times] when I wanted to end it," another Tweeted.
Another fan was devastated by the news, "Ivan moody retiring!!? What, no!! Man FFDP won't be the same without him, but I'm happy he wants to have time with his family."
On the other hand, some people are not too sad the frontman is leaving behind the heavy metal music scene.
"Ivan Moody is retiring soon. Thank f**king god," a Twitter user wrote.
"Don't need Ivan Moody in metal anyways. Besides, since when has Five Finger Death Punch been metal?" criticized another.
Last Show?
According to reports, Moody has made statements like these several times before. During a show in the Netherlands, he announced, "I'll let you know ahead of time - this is my last show with Five Finger Death Punch."
However, evidently, it was not his last show with the band because he returned with them in August of that same year. A statement about his sobriety and treatment was also issued, noting that he was embarrassed and ashamed to admit that [he had] fallen off the wagon again."
